The youngest members of the Lulú Ferris Family have become the stars of our social media as they wish everyone a merry Christmas. They symbolize the true meaning of these holidays, of gatherings and celebrations, of gifts and colorful lights. If we could make one wish on the shooting star hanging in the nativity scene, it would be to look again with a child’s eyes at everything happening around us. That will be the first of our Christmas reflections for this December 25.
Today, on this different kind of day, we want to give you three Christmas reflections, made from the heart more than from the head. With the sole aim of sharing, feeling, and seeing the world through a child’s eyes once again.
1. Today, as always, what we celebrate is life
Sometimes we can lose sight of the meaning behind celebrations like this one. Depending on our circumstances, our memories, and what we have experienced… Christmas can become sad, strange, absurd, or perhaps the exact opposite. Our opinion is that everyone has the right to live each day of their life as they wish. But whenever you have the chance to gather, celebrate, or hug someone you love, do it!
Because at Christmas, beyond anything else, what we celebrate is life.
2. Gratitude, just like love, expands the heart
They say that “where you focus, things expand.” In other words, whatever you pay attention to, whatever you look at, grows as if you were observing it through a magnifying glass. If loved ones are missing from your table, it will be inevitable that you miss them, but there are two ways to look at the empty chairs.
We suggest looking at them with a glimmer of gratitude in your eyes, grateful that those people were part of your life. Bring out the beautiful memories, raise a toast in their honor, realize how fortunate you are to have had them in your life. And smile even if a little tear comes along.
3. Children know things adults forget
This is the idea we began this list of Christmas reflections with. Children’s wisdom is contagious and lives in the realm of imagination. When we grow up and fill our heads with knowledge, we close that door. So if you are lucky enough to have children in your family, let their magic rub off on you.
Dream with them, fantasize, play, and relive the wonder alongside them for a few days. A few days in which they become teachers with so much to teach us…
They are the little star crowning the tree, the magical sleigh, the gift, the music, and they still retain their ability to believe in the incredible. Join them!
