Are you one of those people who carries their phone in their purse at the mercy of keys, coins, and all kinds of other objects? Or are you one of those who always keeps it tucked away in an adorable case? Either way, you're going to love today's post. We're bringing you three super-simple ideas that are original and fun, and are sure to inspire you to make a DIY phone case.
The designs we're going to show you are made from felt, but you can make them with any type of fabric. If you use regular cotton, don't forget to add some interfacing to make it sturdier and cushier. You can adapt the design so it doesn't have a flap, add a zipper if you're feeling adventurous, a button, or a ribbon with a snap to close the top… As we always say, we put the idea out there and you make it completely your own.
Design a fun and original DIY phone caseWhile browsing online, we came across some designs that seemed fantastic. Judge for yourself, choose your favorite, and start sewing. You don't need to be an expert with a sewing machine: creating a phone case is the easiest thing in the world!
1. If you love pandas
That's us. We go crazy for pandas, and if you're a regular at Lulú Ferris, you already know that. The only problem we see with this case is the color: white might get dirty too easily for an object we're going to handle many times a day.
A solution that would also give it an attractive touch would be to protect the fabric pieces you'll be working with using Lamifix. That will also waterproof the case and make it safer for your phone.
We've also seen this idea applied to other animals: a pink pig, a black cat… All of them super cool!
2. If you like to surprise
This particular design seemed genius to us. You can go with “The Scream” or any other expression you find funny. Creating templates to cut out the fabric pieces doesn't require great drawing skills, and if you don't want to sew, you could even glue the different pieces together with permanent fabric glue.
You could even make the mouth opening with clear plastic so you can see whether you have a call, message, etc.
3. If you like detailed projects
We liked this last idea because of the detail of its construction and how eye-catching the result is. It's not especially difficult, but it does require a little time to cut out and glue the balloons. In this case, it's highly recommended that you use glue instead of sewing them on one by one.
I'm sure you recognized the design instantly, inspired by Up, the beautiful Pixar movie. However, you can use the technique to create different designs. For example, a cloud with raindrops falling from it, the leaves of a tree, or anything else you can think of.
