Oh my goodness… it’s hot! Apart from a few exceptions (a hug for our readers in the north), summer is here to stay. And how it’s hitting… Unless you wear your hair in a garçon cut, super short, it’s probably already starting to bother you. So we went digging through our easy sewing tutorials and gathered eight that will be just perfect for you.
They’re eight hair accessories you can make with fabrics from our shop to coordinate with everything. Functional and pretty is the perfect combination, so say goodbye to boring hair ties and old headbands. We want you comfortable, fashionable, and beautiful.
Let’s get to them!
Easy summer sewing tutorials:accessories for gorgeous hair!
Fabric scrunchies
A survival essential for keeping your gorgeous hair away from the nape of your neck and your back. Much prettier than typical hair ties and so cute to wear on your wrist when you’re not using them.
To make one of these—or dozens—you only need a little fabric and a piece of elastic. They sew up very quickly and aren’t complicated at all, so they’re perfect for getting started and practicing.
Head scarf (Kimo-Kap)
We created this tutorial in 2015 with a charitable purpose: donating scarves to children undergoing chemotherapy treatments through the Kimo-Kap association.
We know making one for yourself won’t be as meaningful as making one for them, but this design is perfect for protecting yourself from the sun. If you like the mountains, walks in the sun, or spending hours at the beach, it’s a good idea to cover your head so you don’t end up with sunstroke.
If you prefer scarves to hats or beanies, this very easy tutorial will be perfect for you.
Headbands: 6 ways to make them
And finally, one of our favorite accessories. We love headbands, we adore coordinating them with our clothes, giving them different finishes, and having a good collection at home to choose from depending on the day.
With a Celtic knot, turban style, a little bow, a t-shirt-yarn braid, or woman power like “Rosie the Riveter.” All in different colors and types of fabric, all super comfortable and very easy to sew.

And now… time to fill your hair-accessory drawer with new colors, shapes, and designs. Enjoy them!
