Since we're always “ahead of our time,” we see summer slipping away and already have Christmas on our minds. If you're one of those restless minds too, today we're showing you how to make an advent calendar with a sewing machine. The tutorial isn't new and has been around for a while, but if you've just discovered us or have never tried making one, this is your chance!
Every year we bring the panels for making the advent calendar to the store, and every year, around November,we organize a special workshopso you can make it at our store in Mataró. But if you live far away or don't have time to attend an in-person workshop, you can watch the step-by-step process in the following video.
How to Make an Advent Calendar with a Sewing MachineIn just four minutes you'll be able to see the whole process. Once you see how easy it is, we're sure you'll be inspired to make one for your home this year. To make the advent calendar you'll need:
- Calendar panel (that was pretty obvious, right?)
- Batting
- Fabric for the back
- Cord or ribbon
- Bias tape
Also get some scissors, a few pins, an iron, and, of course, your sewing machine. The difficulty level is minimal, so even if you're not (yet) a great seamstress, it'll turn out perfectly.
At the store you'll find a couple of different designs. This way you can choose the one you like best or the one that goes best with your Christmas decor. We love them both. The Scandi design, in red and white, brings the most classic Christmas elements into a very modern and truly beautiful design. The Festive Friends design, colorful and carefree, will undoubtedly be the kids' favorite.
