I never thought I'd make a mask tutorial, much less because of the circumstances that led to it.
It's true that I had made a tutorial for a surgical cap and stethoscope cover or a pocket holder, but as an accessory, not a necessity.
When lockdown began, many of you asked me for a tutorial, but I didn't make one because at that time the appropriate material wasn't available, and wearing one would have given you a false sense of security that put your health at risk.
Now it is available. You can find certified fabric for making masks at different stores, wires for adjusting the fit around the nose, and extra-soft covered elastic so your ears don't hurt.
It is very important to take into account how many washes you can do with that fabric before it loses its effectiveness.
For this tutorial, we followed the UNE specifications with a few small changes. One is that we're going to make it double-layered, in case you want to make it with one side of mask-appropriate fabric and the outer side with printed cotton, or in case you want to add an inner layer of TNT. It is important to know that the fabric I'm using is effective against the virus when washed at 30 degrees and with neutral detergent.
Note that with this Mask fabric, it can be made with a single layer.
Another change is that, because we're making it double-layered and want it to have a more polished finish, we've added 2 centimeters to the length of the bias tape strip. You'll understand when you watch the video.

To finish, here's the PDF with the pattern for a sanitary gown that we made for a nurse in trouble who asked us for it. Remember to make it with a specific fabric that can withstand 60 degrees. The PDF contains the instructions.
