Lulu Ferris Is Changing Its Hours. Find Balance and You’ll Win!

I’m sure you know that feeling of having no time for anything. And you know what? It’s more than a feeling. You leave home in the morning and sometimes don’t get back until night, or the time you spend at home at midday is so short (and so intense) that before you know it, you’re walking through the doors at work again. It seems as though schedules were designed by the enemy, and that can’t be right. We want time to live, take care of ourselves, enjoy our children, and be happier. That’s why Lulu Ferris is changing its hours.

Work-life balance isn’t a word that suddenly became trendy: it’s a necessity. That’s why, after consulting our customers about this decision through social media as well, we’ve decided to take the step.

As you already know, Laura became a mother for the third time a little while ago. Try to imagine her running the physical store, the website, three beautiful, hyperactive children, and taking care of herself. I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted just thinking about it…

That’s how the idea of changing our hours became essential. And it isn’t only about her, but about the entire Lulu Ferris team. Family life is just as important as social life, or as being able to rest, get organized, make plans… 

We’re adapting to a more European model, and starting November 2, our hours will be as follows:

• Monday, from 13:00 to 18:00.
• Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 to 18:00.

It isn’t the first time a customer has asked whether we’re open at midday (because that’s often the only time you have, too). Well, from now on, the answer to that question is “YES.” This way, we don’t reduce the time we spend with you, but we give ourselves the chance to do something with the day once we close the store doors.

Well, we hope it doesn’t. For buying supplies and taking sewing classes, you still have the online store and the Lulu Ferris tutorials. As for in-person classes, it doesn’t make a major difference: we’re moving two hours from the end of the day to the middle, but they’re still reserved for you.

So we hope this very positive change doesn’t cause you any inconvenience.

We think so, but we know that nothing in life is certain. That’s why the plan is to try it for a few months and see what happens. If you’re happy with the change and adapt well to it, we’ll keep moving forward.

If we want an effective change in society and in the labor model, that change has to start with each of us. So let’s do it. Lulu Ferris is changing its hours, and we—being the idealistic romantics that we are—hope that, little by little, the world will change too.
