It’s true that this time of year has something that makes us feel different. The year comes to an end and our feelings rise closer to the surface. Nostalgia and memories mingle with the hopes and wishes of a new chapter. It’s time to take stock, recharge with new energy, and become aware of all the beautiful things we have in our lives (although we should do this every day). Today we want to wish you, from the bottom of our hearts, a merry Christmas and, above all, creativity that flourishes and thrives.
And we want to do that by sharing a few keys to remember during these days and all the ones still to come. This is how we do it, and we believe you may also find something here that serves you in your own life.
Merry Christmas, happy rest of your life1. Never, under any circumstances, stop doing what you love
We forget this so many times, even though it’s so important. We should repeat it to ourselves every day before jumping out of bed. How many times have you followed through on your New Year’s resolutions? We mean the ones that put your true desires on the line. An essential part of your life is feeling fulfilled, reserving a “sacred” space for doing what you love, what truly fills you up.
We’re crazy about sewing and creativity. And we’ll continue to be here to inspire you with online courses and in-person workshops if this is your passion too.
2. Gratitude fills you up more than turrón and polvorones
It’s also very common to get lost in the stress of everyday life, take everything we have for granted, and forget how lucky we are. Life changes, takes you up and down like a roller coaster, and sometimes it seems to turn against you. And the best thing you can do in those difficult moments is remember everything you feel grateful for. Take the reins and put yourself in an optimistic frame of mind.
You can start with a small exercise during the holidays. Make an effort to remember those who are no longer here from a place of gratitude, not sadness: be grateful that they passed through your life and helped make you the person you are.
3. Give the world what you—and only you—have that’s wonderful
You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone, and you shouldn’t depend on anyone else to know that you’re unique. By definition, you are an unrepeatable being, and there is something in you that no one else has or ever will have. Find a way to bring it out and give it to the world. It doesn’t matter if you think others do it better or if you’re embarrassed to show it: you have to do it!
If Laura hadn’t decided to overcome her fear and show what she could do with her hands, Lulú Ferris would never have been born. Don’t try to be the best, and don’t seek perfection; you only have to enjoy the journey, and the rest will come.
As much as we love beautiful fabrics, what makes them magical is what each of you does with them.
And now all that’s left is to wish you a merry Christmas and hope you start practicing these three small but powerful keys every day.
