When you become a mother, one of the first things you learn to appreciate properly is a pacifier holder. Without them, poor pacifiers would spend all day rolling around on the floor, doing somersaults over the lint. And that’s not even counting all the ones that would get lost. 1. Heart-shaped silicone clips
The most important thing about clips for pacifier holders is that they can’t break. And we’re not referring only to the clasp, but to the entire piece. With a plastic clip, for example, a small piece could break off, and that’s precisely what we want to avoid. Especially because there’s a risk the little one could swallow it.
However, silicone is 100% reliable in this regard. Just think that this material is used for surgical prostheses, so imagine… Soft, lightweight, pleasant to the touch, free of lead and nickel, and with plastic teeth to keep them from damaging clothing.
2. Wooden clips
Another new addition to the shop. Wooden clips also meet the safety requirement. They’re also lightweight and pleasant to the touch.
They may not seem especially beautiful to you—or maybe they do—but being understated is actually a plus because it keeps the little one from fiddling with it. Even if they’re more interested in the other end of the pacifier holder, the one with the pacifier itself, this way we can keep it from attracting too much curiosity.
You must not cover the clips with fabric or decorations, even if they’re glued on. Any addition, no matter how securely attached it may seem, could end up coming loose for any number of reasons. And we don’t want any scares.
3. Metal clips
Despite the new materials, such as silicone, metal clips are still the most widely used. We can definitely say that these are unbreakable!
Remember that the clip must be secured to the ribbon. In other words, this end of the pacifier holder can’t be made detachable with Velcro; it must be sewn on securely. The reason is obvious, right? That would be dangerous for our baby.
If you stop by the shop’s clip section, you’ll see that metal clips are the most plentiful: we have round ones, heart-shaped ones, and these gorgeous little bunny clips that just arrived. You also have lots of colors to choose from.
Some extra tips for making your pacifier holders safe
- Ribbon width: It must be between 22 and 25 millimeters.
- Pacifier-holder length: It must never exceed 22 centimeters in length. This is very important, because a ribbon that’s too long is a dangerous element that we must avoid at all costs.
- Weight: The lighter, the better, but never at the expense of strength.
- Fabric: Don’t use satin, shiny fabrics, or stretchy fabrics. You can use regular fabric or grosgrain.
- And always make sure the clips contain no lead or nickel, like the ones we carry in the shop.
