But be warned: this isn't just any sewing notebook. It arrived at Lulú Ferris almost a year ago, conceived and designed by Laura. And when you spend your days sewing, creating, designing, making tutorials, taking custom orders, making clothes for your little ones… you either get organized, or you're dead!
Just as we have planners with specialized sections designed to bring order to our day-to-day tasks, it makes perfect sense to also have a notebook with specific sections for recording sewing projects. And we don't just want it to be useful—we want it to be beautiful!
What's a sewing notebook like inside?
Okay, you've seen that it's beautiful on the outside, but what is it like inside? The sewing notebook Laura designed based on her own needs has a little bit of everything.
Basically, it's divided by project. We've opened hers up so you can take a look. She turned the blank space under the project name into a mood board. Fabric swatches and photos of the finished result, all attached with colorful washi tape.
Next, there's a space for writing down the materials and then the step-by-step process. The cover is hard so everything is well protected and doesn't bend, and the spiral binding makes it much easier to handle.
And since we all have unique ideas and needs, it seemed essential to us to add some blank pages. For those projects you want to design someday, things you don't want to forget, important measurements… The great thing about a blank page is that it has room for everything.
Well, almost everything, because… patterns are a world apart. And very large! So we thought: wouldn't it be fabulous to have a matching folder for filing patterns? That's when we came up with a free downloadable PDF to match the sewing notebook. The idea is for you to print it and use it as a cover for a ring binder or file folder.
