There are sooo many things you can make with t-shirt yarn—baskets, rugs, bracelets…. and with a little imagination, endless crafts!!!
Today I’m bringing you a tutorial made by Yolanda from Milola!! While browsing Zara Home, she spotted a stool that caught her attention. It was made with t-shirt yarn and beautiful… and… incredibly expensive! Since she’s naturally creative and very handy, she decided to make one.
She happened to have an Ikea stool that was half assembled, so she came to Lulu, we chose a few spools of t-shirt yarn from Trap-Art, and she got to work. The result is spectacular!
First, she applied walnut stain to the stool, which was made of natural wood, giving it that dark touch. But you can leave it as is or paint it white or any color—just make sure to do it before adding the t-shirt yarn…
She used 3 different colors of t-shirt yarn. To give you an idea, you’ll have enough to make it with two small spools or one large one.
She started by stapling the t-shirt yarn securely to the stool. A regular stapler will work, and then she began wrapping it around. The most important thing is to pull the t-shirt yarn very, very tight so that later you can sit down without slipping through the middle.
Once that was done, she started to “weave,” patiently going one over, one under, alternating at the beginning of each row… if you’ve pulled it tight enough, it will take some effort… it took her approximately an hour and a little more to finish… are you up for it???
