This tutorial is perfect for recycling old T-shirts or giving a different look to basic ones we buy. Hearts and neon colors are in fashion; the idea here is to let your imagination run wild. I made a heart, but you can make a star, a cloud—whatever you like best.
You will need a knit T-shirt, some T-shirt yarn, scissors, and a safety pin.
First, cut out a template of the design you want to make. Then trace it with chalk or a disappearing marker on the inside (if you're good at drawing, you don't need a template).
Next, use the scissors to make small cuts along the design. Be careful not to cut through the back of the T-shirt!
Once you've made all the cuts, take the T-shirt yarn and, using a safety pin to help you, thread it through the cuts.
To finish, you have two options: cut off the excess T-shirt yarn and join the two ends with a few stitches (by hand or by machine), or leave the strips long in front and tie a knot.
