What you’ll make
Sew the Bordeaux Pinafore, a layering dress with a deep V-neckline, shaped bust darts, a center-front seam, and shoulder straps.
A facing creates a clean finish around the neckline and armholes. Make the plain straps from the main pattern or follow the second class to add gathered ruffles.
What you’ll learn in these classes
- Stabilize curved and bias edges on woven fabric.
- Sew matching bust darts in the front and facing.
- Prepare and position fixed shoulder straps.
- Attach the facing around the upper edge.
- Clip and turn the deep V point cleanly.
- Shape, hem, gather, and insert strap ruffles.
Fabric choices
The pattern works with knits or woven fabrics. Options include knit, waffle jersey, Ponte Roma, canvas, lightweight denim, fine-wale corduroy, and lightweight viscose.
Match the needle to your fabric. Dense material can become bulky near the darts, so test any optional topstitching on a scrap with the same number of layers.
Make it your own
Keep the straps plain, add the gathered ruffles from the second class, or lengthen the straps for an optional front button closure.
For cool weather, layer it over the London Bodysuit and leggings, then add the Eliza Cardigan.
Pattern sizing
The pattern covers sizes 34/36 through 54/56. The chart spans an 86–132 cm bust, 64–110 cm waist, and 90–136 cm hip.
Finished pinafore length ranges from 87 cm to 94.5 cm, depending on size.
Two video classes cover the pinafore and optional ruffled straps. A4 and A0 patterns and a size-information sheet are included.
