What you’ll make

Camélia is a cropped, fully lined jacket that can look polished or casual depending on its fabric and details. The pattern includes a collar, patch pockets, optional pocket flaps and optional cuffs.

A collarless tweed version has a refined look, while the collared version works well as a relaxed everyday jacket. Both have a neatly finished interior.

What you’ll learn in this class

Stabilize edges that may stretch or unravel.
Prepare and topstitch the patch pockets and optional flaps.
Assemble the jacket body, cuffs and set-in sleeves.
Construct the optional collar and join it to the facings.
Form the ease pleat in the back lining.
Join the lining and turn the jacket through a sleeve opening.
Manage bulky layers around the collar and cuffs.

Choosing your fabric

Tweed or bouclé gives Camélia a polished, textured finish. Denim or wool coating can shift the design toward a more casual jacket.

Consider bulk before choosing a thick fabric. Several layers meet around the collar and cuffs, and excessive thickness can make machine-sewn buttonholes difficult.

Make it your own

Sew the jacket with a collar or leave the neckline collarless.
Add the patch pockets with or without their flaps.
Use the separate cuffs or omit them for simpler sleeves.
Choose buttons and buttonholes, snaps or magnetic fasteners.
Add topstitching to define the collar and outer edges.

Pattern sizing

The pattern covers grouped sizes 34/36 through 54/56. Finished jacket lengths range from 54 to 59 cm, with body measurements listed for each size group.

The video shows how the outer jacket, facings, optional collar and lining come together. A4 and A0 pattern files and a project information sheet are included.
