What you’ll make
Make children’s jogger-style sweatpants with practical front pockets, an elastic waistband and fitted ankle cuffs.
Designed for everyday wear, the relaxed knit pants can be worn for school, walks, relaxing or sleeping. The pattern runs from 0/3 months through 5/6 years.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Cut mirrored front, back and pocket pieces.
- Build and secure the front pockets.
- Assemble the leg seams and curved rise.
- Prepare and quarter the folded ankle cuffs.
- Insert and securely join the waistband elastic.
- Finish stretch seams with a serger or zigzag stitch.
Fabric choices
These pants are sewn in knit fabric. Use a ballpoint or jersey needle, and avoid stretching the fabric as it feeds through the machine.
The cuffs, waistband and pockets can match or contrast with the main fabric. You can also expose the reverse side of one fabric to distinguish those sections.
Make it your own
Choose matching or contrasting fabric for the waistband, cuffs and pockets. Add a small label at the back before attaching the waistband.
