What you’ll make

Sew practical men’s briefs with a close-fitting shape and a double-layer center front for added support and comfort.

The small pattern pieces make this a useful project for knit remnants. Mix leftover colors or prints to create a distinctive everyday garment.

What you’ll learn in this class

Cut mirrored front pieces and assemble the double-layer center panel.
Handle several light knit layers without losing alignment.
Mark reference points to distribute elastic evenly.
Attach elastic around curved leg openings with a zigzag stitch.
Finish the waistband and leg openings while retaining their stretch.
Use an overlocker or complete the project on a regular sewing machine.

Fabric and elastic

Choose a soft, lightweight knit. The project is particularly well suited to small jersey or stretch-fabric remnants.

Elastic firmness varies, so treat the measurements as a reference. Test the waist and leg elastic against the intended wearer and try your chosen zigzag on a scrap before sewing.

Make it your own

Combine contrasting scraps across the front and back, or use one print throughout. The demonstrated version conceals the waistband elastic, but visible decorative elastic is another option.

Pattern sizing

The pattern includes grouped sizes 34/36 through 54/56. Its chart covers waists from 66 to 114 cm and hips from 78 to 126 cm.

The video class is accompanied by a downloadable A4 pattern with a size chart and reference measurements for the waist and leg elastic.
