What you’ll make

Make a compact triangular crossbody bag that sits comfortably across your chest or back. Its clean shape suits everyday errands, travel and walks.

Metro has one main compartment, a wide side zipper and an adjustable backpack-style strap. A shaped base gives the bag depth instead of leaving it completely flat.

What you’ll learn in this class

Sew the small darts that shape the bag.
Prepare zipper end tabs and insert the zipper between the exterior and lining.
Assemble and turn a fully lined bag.
Sew the shaped base smoothly around the curves.
Make attachment tabs for the hardware.
Assemble and adjust the webbing strap.
Close the lining by machine or hand.

Fabric and structure

The sample combines canvas outside with a poplin lining. No interfacing is used in the class version.

Add light, medium or firmer interfacing if you want more structure. Choose the weight according to your exterior fabric and the feel you prefer.

Make it your own

Omit the shaped base for a flatter version.
Add interior or exterior pockets.
Use interfacing for a softer or firmer result.
Try on the strap before its final stitching and adjust the length.

Finished size

The finished Metro Crossbody Bag measures approximately 22 cm wide, 32 cm high and 7.5 cm deep.

The video class includes an A4 pattern for home printing, with the finished measurements documented in the pattern file.
