What you’ll make

Create a felt needle-organizer book that keeps new needle cases visible and used needles sorted in one compact place.

Clear pockets hold packaged needles, while mesh pockets can store extra cases or small sewing accessories. Colored felt strips provide a separate place for used needles.

Eyelets and opening binder rings make the organizer expandable, while a strap closure helps keep its contents in place.

What you’ll learn in this class

Build felt covers with layered felt decoration.
Sew clear vinyl pockets with openings for labels and cases.
Use clips and a suitable presser foot when sewing vinyl.
Create two page layouts for different needle groupings.
Add mesh or fabric pockets for small notions.
Install aligned eyelets through the covers and pages.

Materials and structure

The project uses sturdy felt for the covers and pages, clear vinyl for visible storage, mesh for flexible pockets, and colored felt strips for sorting used needles.

Eyelets and opening binder rings hold the book together. The rings let you add more pages as your needle collection grows.

Make it your own

Use one felt color throughout or a different color for each page.
Choose a four-case page or divide a page between two needle categories.
Add mesh or fabric pockets for a needle threader, small screwdriver, or other notions.
Place the closure at the top or side and adjust it to suit your book.
Use the included blank label for another needle type.

The class includes a PDF with measurements, materials, needle labels in two typefaces, a blank label, and a Schmetz needle color guide.
