What you’ll make

Sew a sturdy, reusable organizer bag for carrying bottles, groceries or other items that need to stay separated.

Inside are four spaces for standard bottles and one larger space for detergent bottles or bulkier goods. An exterior pocket adds convenient storage.

Webbing handles allow the bag to be carried over the shoulder, while its structured rectangular shape provides a stable base and generous capacity.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Build and reinforce the internal divider system.
  • Keep the numbered rectangular pieces organized.
  • Join the dividers, lining panels and base.
  • Add an exterior pocket and webbing handles.
  • Box the exterior corners to create depth.
  • Join the exterior and lining neatly.
  • Reinforce the handles on the finished bag.

Fabric and structure

Use a firm fabric such as canvas for the exterior. Poplin or another lightweight fabric works for the lining, while the samples also show muslin as an option.

Interfacing supports the dividers, and backpack webbing forms the handles. The class also covers suitable edge finishes for fabrics that fray.

Make it your own

Add a second exterior pocket for one on each side, omit the pocket or combine different fabrics across the lining and dividers.

For a directional exterior print, the class shows how to divide and rejoin the main piece so the motif appears upright on both sides of the bag.

Finished size

The completed bag measures approximately 29.5 cm wide, 32 cm high and 20.5 cm deep.

The video class comes with a PDF containing numbered pieces, measurements and a materials list.
