What you’ll make
Create a reusable facial-cleansing set with soft terry rounds, a drawstring bag for clean rounds, and a cotton-mesh drawstring bag that keeps used rounds together in the wash.
The clean bag features a leaf appliqué. The used-round bag combines a woven upper section with mesh, allowing the filled bag to go directly into the washing machine.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Prepare and stitch a fabric appliqué with a close zigzag.
- Finish fabric edges with an overlock stitch or zigzag.
- Form neat drawstring channels and openings.
- Attach circular bases by matching quarter marks.
- Join woven fabric to cotton mesh cleanly.
- Sew reusable terry rounds with different edge finishes.
Choosing your fabric
The demonstrated set uses fine organic cotton terry for the facial rounds, cotton fabric for the bags, and cotton mesh for the washable used-round bag.
The class explains when a fabric edge needs an overlock-style finish and when the mesh can remain unfinished because it does not fray.
Make it your own
Make as many cleansing rounds as suit your routine. You can also change the appliqué motif, but letters must be traced in reverse before fusing so they read correctly after application.
The video class includes a PDF with material guidance, cutting measurements, circle templates, a leaf appliqué, and the cleansing-round template.
