Stroller Mittens
In this tutorial, we’ll sew warm, waterproof mittens for your little one’s stroller or a shopping cart. They’re very easy to make, and the pattern is included!

What you’ll make
Sew a pair of warm stroller mittens that remain on the handle while you push a stroller or shopping cart in cold or wet weather.
Each mitten combines a waterproof exterior with a soft lining. Snaps on both sides allow it to open around a continuous handlebar or remain fitted to separate handles.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Cut the outer fabric and lining on the fold.
- Sew and trim curved sections for a smooth shape.
- Join the layers while leaving an opening for turning.
- Reduce bulk at corners before turning.
- Topstitch coated fabric and close the opening.
- Position and install the securing snaps.
Fabric and materials
Use waterproof fabric outside and a warm lining such as sherpa, polar fleece, teddy fleece, or coral fleece. A woven fabric can also be coated with Odicoat.
The class shows how a Teflon foot, masking tape, or washi tape can help the presser foot glide over coated fabric.
