What you’ll make
Sew the Verona, a soft wireless bralette or summer top with a wide back, adjustable straps, elasticated edges, and gentle gathering at the center front.
It can be worn as an undergarment or top. Its underbust elastic adds light structure without an underwire.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Choose stitches and a needle for stretch fabric.
- Make fabric straps with optional elastic inside.
- Apply clear elastic around stretch-fabric edges.
- Turn and topstitch elasticated edges with a zigzag.
- Gather the center front with stretched elastic.
- Assemble adjustable straps with rings and sliders.
Fabric and notions
Use a stretch fabric such as jersey or stretch lace. The class recommends a super-stretch needle and demonstrates clear elastic for support and edge recovery.
Straps can use the main fabric, elastic-reinforced fabric, or ready-made bra elastic. Decorative lace at the underbust must also stretch.
Make it your own
Add stretch lace at the lower edge, use ready-made lingerie elastic for slimmer straps, lengthen the pattern into a tank-style top, or sew the design as a stretch-fabric swim top.
For a matching set, adapt the period underwear pattern without its absorbent layers.
Sizing
The included pattern covers sizes 34–56. Use its measurement chart to select the size that best matches your body measurements.
The class includes the A4 Verona pattern and demonstrates both fabric and ready-made elastic strap options.
