What you’ll make

Make a fabric cover that conceals a package of wet wipes while leaving its dispenser accessible. Boxed corners create depth, and the package’s plastic lid helps keep the wipes closed.

A snap-fastened strap lets you carry or hang the cover from a stroller, shelf, or another suitable support.

What you’ll learn in this class

Center and mark the opening for the selected plastic lid.
Sew, clip, turn, press, and topstitch a neat dispenser opening.
Make and attach a folded fabric strap with a finished end.
Finish exposed edges with bias tape or a hem.
Sew the side seams and form four boxed corners.
Install a snap and attach the reusable lid to the fabric.

Fabric and structure

The cover is made from two fabric pieces. If the fabric is very lightweight, the accompanying PDF suggests adding interfacing for reinforcement.

The demonstrated version uses bias tape on two edges, but the class also shows that these edges can be hemmed instead.

Make it your own

Adapt the cover for a large baby-wipe pack or reduce it for smaller hand or personal wipes. Check your lid’s size and shape before marking the opening.

Change the strap length, make it removable with a carabiner, or use hook-and-loop tape instead of a snap. You can also add a name or simple fabric motif.

Verified sample measurements

Main cover: two fabric pieces measuring 30 × 40 cm.
Strap: one fabric piece measuring 35 × 5 cm.

These measurements fit the large wipes package used in class. Adjust them around your package for a closer or flatter fit.
