A new month is just around the corner, along with a new calendar of in-person sewing classes at our lovely shop-studio in Mataró. Since summer is beginning, this June you’ll find classes for all ages, starting at age 7.
But before telling you what we have planned, we want to remind you that you can sew with us even if you’re far away. Every week, we create and upload a new tutorial to the Lulu Ferris to teach you step by step, so you’re never on your own (or alone—although there are few men among our followers, we know you’re out there).
And although it’s not the same, it’s one of the best alternatives to in-person courses you’ll find. That said… let’s head to the workshop. Here’s the summary of the June classes: let’s get ready for summer!
(*Note: if you’re reading this post in any other month of the year, you can always check the available classes here).

June is a special month. School ends and summer begins. So on the one hand, we have kids with time on their hands and lots of energy to devote to beautiful things, and on the other, a change of season that makes us eager to sew and wear new clothes.
It’s also the perfect time to learn to use a sewing machine or serger and put them to work while taking advantage of the extra free time during vacation.
1. Summer camp for children: sewing, crochet, and/or knitting
Starting June 25, the summer camp for boys and girls begins. Every morning, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 to 13:00, they’ll be able to spend time with other kids their age, learn to make really cool things, and above all, have fun and enjoy themselves.
We offer the camp by the week, so you can sign them up for anywhere from one to four weeks. Check all the prices and dates by clicking the following link: Summer camp for children.

2. Introduction to the sewing machine and serger
These classes are for starting from scratch. The idea is for you to get to know your machine, learn to use it, and lose your fear of it. From preparing it for sewing to cleaning and maintenance tips: threading, tension adjustment, stitch length, and other mysteries. But most importantly, of course, you’ll take your first stitches with good guidance.
Choose the option you need to see all the information:
- First steps with the sewing machine (several dates)
- First steps with the serger (Saturday, June 9)
3. Patternmaking, cutting, and sewing: beginners and experienced sewists
The huge, wonderful advantage of small groups is the individual attention we can give each person. So, whether you already have some patternmaking knowledge or you’re starting from scratch, you’ll love this course. The only requirement is that you already know how to use a sewing machine.
The idea is for you to learn to make your own clothes by taking measurements and drafting the patterns yourself. Pretty cool, right? Total creative freedom! Which day and time work best for you?
- Wednesday afternoons, from 16:00 to 20:00
- Friday mornings, from 10:00 to 14:00
Do you already know how to make patterns, but have questions you need professional help with? In that case, you may not be interested in taking the full course. We’re offering a special class on June 9 so you can come with your questions and keep moving forward.

You now have our schedule for June. Organize yours and reserve your classes before the spots fill up. See you soon!
