Sewing Sweet Dreams for Your Baby

They spend a lot of time sleeping, and it’s no wonder, because discovering the world is exhausting, encountering thousands of unfamiliar sensations and perceptions every day, growing so quickly and learning what incredible surprises this brand-new life holds. Meanwhile, we look at them as if we had never seen anything so beautiful—and, honestly, we never have…

Sleep is an essential part of a baby’s development, indispensable for our tiny little people to grow up healthy and happy. Pacifiers, stuffed animals, blankets, baby sleeping bags, songs, the sound of Mom’s heartbeat, Dad’s whispering voice… Nothing is too much when it comes to giving our little angels (even though sometimes they cry like demons) some sweet dreams.

Today we’re bringing you three beautiful and inspiring ideas for dressing and watching over your baby’s dreams.

KIPPINS HAVE ARRIVED.

Kippins baby sleeping bags

Kippins, by Sylvia Tribel for Mini Style Blog

We’ve just discovered them and have already fallen head over heels. Simple, original, safe, eco-friendly, adorable, and available in every shape and color. We stumbled across them by chance on Mini Style, with a beautiful series of photographs by @Sylviatribel, and went straight to this Australian website to learn more.

Made with 100% organic cotton, charming and one of a kind, they look set to become a huge hit. They’re made for hugging, cuddling, and wrapping yourself in softly. In the US, they’ve been dubbed blankies or lovies.

BABY SLEEPING BAGS.

Although Kippins look like blankets, their dimensions mean that they actually serve as a stuffed animal and cuddle buddy. To keep your little ones warm at bedtime and make sure they don’t uncover themselves even if they move around a lot during sleep, baby sleeping bags are an idea we love. And most importantly, one that works for us.

We’ve already made several at Lulu and depending on whether it’s warmer or colder, you can line them with a little fleece, add batting inside, or use whatever you think is most appropriate to achieve the ideal temperature.

To make the task easier for you, we have a baby sleeping bag tutorial available at Lulu Ferris, where you can follow Laura’s very simple explanations step by step to make them just the way you like, using one or several different fabrics.

HAPPY NAP SETS.

Happy nap set baby sleeping bagsNaturally, if your little ones are a bit older, you can no longer bundle them into baby sleeping bags, so we’ll need another kind of “specialized equipment.” So they can take everywhere what they need for a restorative nap. A soft cotton and fleece blanket, a matching pillow, and a multipurpose bag for carrying them—and you need nothing else.

The best thing about the nap set is that you can personalize it however you like, make it yourself, or order it from us. If you want to make it yourself, don’t forget that our YouTube channel has this tutorial for making a multipurpose bag.
