In the more than one hundred tutorials at Lulu Ferris, we've made a little bit of everything. Accessories, baby clothes, women's and men's clothing, things for the house and car, decorative sewing. And we haven't forgotten the ultimate everyday basic: sewing underwear.
So far, we have three tutorials, one for each member of the family: women, men, and babies. Always keeping comfort in mind, making them as simple as possible so you don't get tangled up with your machine, and, of course, making them very pretty.
Here are the three ideas to inspire you, help you create your own designs based on ours, reproduce them exactly if you love them, and gradually fill your underwear drawer with your own creations too. How does that sound?
Sewing underwear for the whole family
Women's underwear: baby-doll panties
They have everything we love: they're soft, comfortable, romantic and sexy, and very easy to make. Depending on the stretch and softness you prefer, you can make them from woven fabric, knit, or modal, which has a very delicate feel and is highly breathable.
In any case, you have lots of pretty fabrics in our store, as you know. The lace trim is what gives them their special touch and looks beautiful, but you can leave it off if you want a more sporty style.
In the Lulu Ferris tutorial, you'll also find the pattern to download so you can make as many as you want. By adjusting the size, they're also perfect for girls, of course.
Sewing men's underwear:
boxer-style/bermuda shorts
A cool and comfortable option for the guys. We designed these boxers with them in mind, but really, they're a little bit for us too. They're the kind of garment that makes a perfect pajama bottom for summer nights.
They're also easy to make and, depending on the fabric you use, they'll be as fun and carefree as ours or a little more serious and formal. The most important thing is that you don't forget to leave the button fly opening ;)

Sewing baby underwear: diaper covers
For girls or boys, we can adapt the previous designs, but as you know, babies have special needs. Basically because they always wear a diaper, except when we're bathing or cleaning them.
In fact, this diaper cover works as underwear-as-outerwear. When it's hot, you can dress your little one in just a T-shirt or dress and a diaper cover like this. So choose a really pretty fabric for when you want to show it off.
It's also very easy and quick to make, and here you can let your imagination run wild because, whatever it looks like, your little one won't mind wearing it :P
