Stimulating your kids’ creativity is a constant need throughout their education and growth as people. Sometimes we drive ourselves crazy looking for leisure options that are not only fun, but also healthy, educational, and useful for their development. You more or less manage to meet their recreational and educational needs during almost the entire year, but then—horror!—school ends, summer vacation begins, and you’re back where you started.
Suddenly they have nothing to do, while you still have a whole pile of tasks. At Lulu Ferris, we always think about the little ones at home. We normally make things for them or explain how you can make them yourself, but sometimes we also organize summer workshops for kids in Mataró, where they become the true stars.
In these workshops, besides learning useful techniques, we also try to help them develop other important values and skills that contribute positively to their development. Would you like a few examples?
Patience.
By learning a new skill and putting it into practice with a specific, short-term goal, as we do in this type of workshop, children learn little by little that, with patience and their own hands, they can make things they never imagined.
Valuing what you make yourself.
Children—and adults, too—are usually used to being given things that are already made. They don’t often have a garment or toy they made themselves. If you give them the chance to create something with their own hands, they’ll learn to value it more, while also gaining new confidence in their abilities.
Creativity.
Crafts tend to take up a lot of time at school when children are very young, but then they gradually get pushed into the background. However, they are an excellent tool for strengthening creative skills at any age. It’s good for little ones to stay connected with their ability to create, expressing their own personality and their way of seeing the world through an activity like this.
Having fun while learning.
Of course, these are the two main goals any activity for little ones should have. The most important thing for them to enjoy themselves and stay motivated to learn is to make it fun, and that’s the idea behind our summer workshops. They’ll have a great time with the crafts and, on top of that, they’ll develop techniques and skills that will be useful throughout their lives.
Socializing with other children.
When school ends, little ones often miss their classmates, too—the friends they normally play and spend time with every day. They’ll enjoy having a new space where they can socialize and share crafts and experiences with other children, help one another, and exchange what they’ve learned.
