Just a few days ago, in the tutorial for making a reversible hat and neck gaiter set, we showed you how to make one of these useful and cool accessories for the whole family: today we're completing the mission by showing you several ways to wear a neck gaiter. As you probably know, the most common way is around your neck, like a scarf, but there are many ways to put it on and get the most out of it. For men, women, or kids; for working out, traveling, staying comfortable and warm, or simply adding a different touch to your look.
Depending on how you want to use it, you can adjust the length of the fabric and make it longer (tube style) or shorter (the length of your neck). If you want to try all these ways of wearing a neck gaiter, it's best to make it longer so you don't run out of fabric for the more elaborate styles.
Ways to wear a neck gaiter: how do you wear yours?AROUND THE NECK:
Of all the ways to wear a neck gaiter, this is the most common and intuitive. Wear it as a scarf to keep your neck warm. The great thing about them is that, because of their shape, you can pull them up over your nose and mouth when it's very cold without them constantly falling down. You can also combine neck and head, like a bandana (the second image from the bottom): perfect for keeping your ears warm. If it's very cold, you could even pull up the lower part to cover your nose and mouth (if you're not quite sure what we mean, you'll be able to see it in the video linked at the end).
ON YOUR HEAD:
Another very practical way to use it, with lots of different possibilities. You can simply wear it like a headband: as an accessory to add a pop of color, or directly across your forehead, pulling all your hair back so it doesn't bother you when you want to be comfortable. Wearing it this way is great for working out because it absorbs sweat and keeps it from running into your eyes. Wear it as a turban for a more hippie-chic look.
You can also use it as an “eye mask” when you want to take a little nap somewhere with too much light, such as on an airplane while traveling, for example. You can even use it as a hair tie, and there are several ways to fold and knot it to make a hat (see the video linked at the end of the post).
OTHER OPTIONS:
A neck gaiter can also be useful below the neck. We've already told you that it's very useful for working out, but not only at the gym—it can also be used for running, climbing, skiing… If it bothers you on your forehead or you don't like the way it looks, wear it on your wrist by wrapping it around a few times and use it to absorb sweat. We've even seen women in some places using it as a top, although several conditions have to be met: the neck gaiter must be very stretchy and you must have a small bust; otherwise… We find it a little complicated :)
The truth is, it's one of the most useful things you can take on a trip, and it's so easy to make that if you like sewing, there's no reason to pay more for one than it would cost to make one yourself with whatever design and fabric you like best. Here are two links that will be very useful:
