What you’ll make
Sew the Ben joggers with an elastic waist, fitted ankle cuffs, contrast-ready knee panels, two flap patch pockets, and two side-seam pockets.
The segmented front legs make it easy to feature a different fabric at the knees. The relaxed shape and multiple pockets suit everyday wear.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Join the segmented front-leg pieces.
- Construct and place flap patch pockets.
- Insert and reinforce side-seam pockets.
- Assemble the legs and curved rise.
- Stretch ankle cuffs evenly onto the openings.
- Insert waistband elastic and prevent twisting.
Fabric and supplies
The joggers are demonstrated in knit fabric with waistband elastic. Rib knit can be used for the cuffs and waistband, while the knee panels can feature a coordinating or contrasting knit.
Seams can be finished with a serger or a sewing-machine zigzag, as demonstrated.
Make it your own
Use one fabric throughout or contrast the knees, cuffs, and waistband. Move the patch pockets to the back, use only one, or omit them entirely.
Pair the joggers with the Zola Sweatshirt or a basic kids’ T-shirt.
If knit garments are new to you, start with the leggings or drop-crotch pants.
A jogger pattern for younger children is also available.
Children’s sizes
The PDF pattern and measurement chart run from size 5/6 through 12/13, with height, waist, hip, pants-length, and waistband-elastic references.
The video class includes the downloadable Ben pattern, measurement chart, and fabric guidance for the listed sizes.
