What you’ll make
Sew the Edward, a flat, elongated belt bag with two separate lined zipper pockets and an adjustable webbing belt. A buckle fastens it around the waist.
The finished bag measures approximately 18 cm wide by 25 cm high. Its larger pocket can hold a small water bottle, although the zipper may not close completely.
The demonstrated fabric treatment adds body and makes the exterior easier to clean. The lining creates a tidy finish inside and out.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Organize the pieces for two lined compartments.
- Install two zippers between the exterior and lining.

Fabric and structure
Use exterior fabric and lining, adding interfacing when the outer fabric is lightweight. Heavier canvas can provide enough body without interfacing.
The sample uses one coat of OdiCoat for body and easier cleaning. Two zippers, backpack webbing, a matching buckle, and a slider complete the bag.
Make it your own
Use matching zippers for a coordinated look or choose contrasting colors. Treat or interface the exterior pieces, or use a sturdier fabric.
Stitch the bag directly to the belt or adapt the upper pattern pieces so the bag can slide along the webbing.
