What you’ll make
Sew a hands-free belt bag that keeps dog-walking essentials organized. Wear it around your waist or hips, or sling it crossbody over one shoulder.
It has a mesh bottle pocket, a snap-flap pocket for waste bags, a zippered treat pocket, and a larger zippered pocket for your phone, keys, and other essentials.
A webbing loop provides an extra attachment point for clipped keys, a small toy, a hanging bottle, or another lightweight item.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Install and topstitch a zipper with a zipper foot.
- Shape pocket corners to create depth.
- Bind mesh while leaving a channel for elastic.
- Set an inset zipper into the main panel.
- Position and topstitch three pocket styles.
- Attach webbing, a buckle, and a snap.
Fabric and supplies
The sample combines waterproof fabric, nylon-like polyester, mesh, bias tape, elastic, webbing, zippers, a buckle, and a snap. Non-waterproof fabric can also be used.
It reuses waterproof scraps from the Levi Backpack and Insulated Bag, creating an easy-to-clean exterior.
Make it your own
Adjust the webbing for waist or crossbody wear. You can also vary the pocket arrangement and choose how firmly the elastic gathers the mesh.
