What you’ll make
The Núria is a short work apron with two stacked tiers of front pockets. Divide the compartments to suit the tools, utensils or craft supplies you use most.
Softly rounded lower corners finish the compact shape. The demonstrated version has an adjustable waist strap with a buckle and slider.
For other workwear styles, see the Ávila Apron and Anna Smock Apron.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Measure and square the apron and pocket pieces.
- Position a directional print before cutting.
- Create matching rounded corners with a household template.
- Finish the upper edges of both pocket tiers.
- Plan and sew compartments across the stacked pockets.
- Attach the waist webbing and add the buckle and slider.
Fabric and supplies
Choose a sturdy fabric with some body. Canvas and denim are the demonstrated options, and you can combine them to distinguish the apron body from its pockets.
The adjustable version also uses backpack-style webbing, a buckle and a slider. The class covers securing the strap while handling the thicker layers at the upper edge.
Make it your own
Divide the pocket tiers around what you carry. Narrow lower compartments can hold small tools, while wider upper sections leave room for larger items.
Finish the pocket tops with a simple hem, double-fold hem, binding or decorative stitching. You can also mix solid and printed fabrics or add a label.
Test the shape in paper before cutting. Adjust the width or length without changing the basic construction, or replace the adjustable closure with longer ties.
Finished size and fit
The PDF lists an approximate finished size of 53.5 cm wide by 29 cm high. Its strap chart covers waist measurements from 66 to 114 cm across sizes 34/36 through 54/56.
The video class is accompanied by a downloadable PDF with the project measurements, materials and waist-strap sizing chart.
