How our little giants grow… Summer clothes for babies and kids, no matter how hard we try, only last one season. Two at most if we make them suuuper roomy. But we like to look on the bright side, as well as sewing and creating gorgeous little clothes. So look at it this way: the upside of your little one no longer fitting into last summer’s clothes is that… you can make more!
And we’re here to give you a few ideas, along with all the fabrics and materials you might need.
Summer clothes tutorials for babies and kids
Baby romper
This tutorial is wonderful in every way. The romper is incredibly comfortable for them, you’ll fall head over heels for how beautiful it is, and it’s also easy to make. You just have to take it one step at a time.
You can use woven or knit fabric, whichever you prefer. That said, the pattern isn’t ours (we wish it were), so you’ll have to buy it separately. In any case, it’ll cost you much less than buying it ready-made. And it’s sure to be prettier!
You can find the baby romper tutorial in Lulu Ferris.
In just three or four hours of sewing, it’ll be ready to wear.
Overalls for kids made by upcycling a T-shirt
Yes, you read that right. These overalls look super cool, and you don’t need to buy fabric to make them. Just upcycle one of those T-shirts you have at home that nobody wears, one they’ve outgrown, or one you have two of.
They’re comfortable, cool, and very original. You can find the upcycled overalls tutorial for free on our YouTube channel. Although we no longer have time to upload more tutorials to the channel, remember that there’s lots of free content available there.
These overalls are also perfect for the beach, the pool, the country… They’re not one of those expensive garments you’re afraid they’ll ruin, so they can be completely free in them. And you can feel completely relaxed.
But you’ll find even more ideas and projects in the Club, which is also (almost) like our baby and is growing by leaps and bounds. Take a look at:
- Reversible baby booties tutorial: so their feet stay cool and protected.
- Boys’ shorts tutorial: with an elastic waistband, super comfortable and unisex.
- Knit overalls: for this «version», you’d have to buy the pattern separately, but if you wait just two days, we’ll upload a tutorial with our own pattern on Friday.
- Girl’s skirt: with plenty of fullness, so they can spin round and round.
- Baby diaper cover: so pretty that it’s a shame to hide it.
- Strappy dress: this one is soooo cute. You’re going to love it.
- Vest: we made it for Carnival, but it’s perfect for summer.
- Baby hat: little heads protected from the sun!
And stay tuned, because we’re uploading a new one on Friday. And another one every Friday.
