What you’ll make
Sew a compact Altea Coin Purse with three compartments and snap closures. Its folded shape provides room for coins, cards, receipts, and other small essentials.
The finished purse measures approximately 11 cm high by 11 cm wide. One snap closes the main purse, while another secures the smaller inner section.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Pair exterior and lining pieces and turn them neatly.
- Reduce bulk around curves and corners.
- Transfer the pattern marks for the folds and compartments.
- Join layered sections accurately.
- Add an optional seam that divides the interior.
- Position and install the two snap closures.
Fabric suggestions
The class recommends canvas for the exterior and poplin for the lining. This pairing provides structure without making every layer too bulky.
If you use poplin for both layers, add interfacing for more body. A walking foot can help when sewing the thicker layered areas.
Make it your own
Add the lower dividing seam if you want small items to stay in separate compartments. Leave it out for a more open passage between the sections.
