What you’ll make

Sew the Granada Shorts, a casual woven pair with an elastic waistband, two front pockets, and a coordinating fabric belt.

The pockets extend into the waistband area, where stitched openings hold the removable belt.

What you’ll learn in this class

  • Stabilize curved and bias-cut edges.
  • Prepare and topstitch the shaped front pockets.
  • Join the rise, side seams, and inseam.
  • Construct and attach the waistband.
  • Finish the pocket extensions for the belt.
  • Insert and distribute waistband elastic evenly.
  • Sew, turn, and finish the fabric belt.

Fabric suggestions

A woven fabric with some body makes the pocket work easier. The class recommends chambray, lightweight denim, linen, rustic cotton, or a linen-look woven.

Viscose or satin can be used, but the pockets will be harder to handle. Knit fabric is also possible, although the design was developed for a more structured woven.

Make it your own

Try on the shorts before hemming if you prefer a shorter length. Finish the hems with straight stitching, twin-needle rows, zigzag, or a decorative stitch.

Pair them with the Basic Tank Top or Verona Bralette Top.

The Madrid T-Shirt is another coordinating option.

Pattern and sizing

The pattern includes sizes 34/36 through 54/56. The body chart spans a 64–110 cm waist and 90–136 cm hips.

Finished length ranges from 37 cm in size 34/36 to 42 cm in size 54/56. Pattern files are provided for A4 home printing and A0 print-shop printing.

The video class includes A4 and A0 pattern files, essential pattern information, and a measurement chart.
