What you’ll make
The Santiago is a unisex fleece pullover with a high collar and a front zipper that extends to the chest seam. Adjust the opening for more or less coverage.
The pattern offers a shorter version that falls below the waist and a longer version that reaches below the seat. Add a straight hand-warmer pocket, a kangaroo pocket, or leave the front plain.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Prepare and position either pocket style.
- Join the upper front and back.
- Attach the high collar using the notches.
- Align and insert the front zipper.
- Join the lower front without stretching the knit.
- Set the sleeves and close the side seams.
- Hem the cuffs and lower edge.
Fabric and sewing choices
Use a warm knit such as fleece or plush-backed fleece. If the fabric sheds heavily, finish its raw edges before assembly.
A jersey or stretch needle suits fabric with some give. A walking foot can feed thick or springy layers evenly, while straight stitch, zigzag, and serger-style finishes suit different machines.
Make it your own
Select the shorter or longer version, then add either pocket or leave the front plain. The chest seam also provides a natural place to combine fabrics or colors.
The unisex sleeves run long, so check their length before hemming. Gather the cuffs or lower edge with elastic, or add eyelets and a tie at the lower edge.
For another everyday layer, try the Unisex Sweatshirt.

Sizing
The unisex pattern includes grouped sizes 34/36 through 54/56. Its chart covers chest measurements of 82–130 cm, waists of 66–114 cm, and hips of 78–126 cm.
Both garment lengths and both pocket options are included.
The video class is paired with a downloadable multisize pattern containing both lengths and pocket options.
