What you’ll make
Sew the Stockholm Kids’ Vest, a sleeveless, fully lined layer with a high collar and snap-fastened front.
Two roomy patch pockets have added depth instead of lying flat. Separate flaps cover the openings, and snaps may be added to the pockets as well as the front.
What you’ll learn in this class
- Stabilize and finish lining edges.
- Sew dimensional patch pockets with optional lining.
- Construct and attach separate pocket flaps.
- Join the outer vest, collar, and lining.
- Insert the front snap plackets.
- Bind the armholes after securing both layers.
- Position and install the pattern-marked snaps.
Fabric and lining choices
Quilted fabric is recommended for the outer vest. Choose a lightweight satin-like lining for less bulk or use sherpa or fleece for extra warmth.
The class shows how to stabilize lining curves and diagonal edges so they retain their shape before assembly.
Make it your own
Leave off the pockets, use one instead of two, or change their size. Pocket snaps are optional.
Layer it over a Basic Kids’ T-shirt, Raglan Sweatshirt, or Zola Sweatshirt.
Complete the outfit with Ben Joggers or Kids’ Jogger Sweatpants.
For a coordinating adult style, see the Oslo Vest.
