If you’re down to the last minute and don’t know what to make, here are a few ideas—some take 5 minutes, others a little longer, depending on how much time you have.

CAPES

A cape can turn any outfit into a costume.

With a hood, it can be Little Red Riding Hood or a comic-book villain. The accessories you add will do the rest.

Carnival costumes for kids Little Red Riding Hood

See how easy it is to make a Little Red Riding Hood costume. Here, we combined the Hooded Cape tutorial with the Vest and  Circular Skirt

The cape doesn’t have to have a hood. With a simple cape, the little ones at home will be flying out the door as soon as they put it on. Since many superheroes wear boots, you can also make them to cover their shoes.

But it doesn’t have to be a hero’s cape. This bat cape is really easy to make, and it takes 5 minutes.

Eye mask

And what is Carnival or a superhero without an eye mask? It’s one of our essential Carnival accessories, and it will only take you 10 min to make.

One-piece jumpsuit: a base for almost anything.

If you have a little more time, you can make a superhero costume. We’ll show you how to make the typical one-piece jumpsuit that closes in the back. Depending on the color and the logo appliqué, it can become one superhero or another. It also works as a base for different characters such as Ladybug and the PjMasks.

Mickey Mouse

The classics never go out of style! And little ones dressed as Disney mice are still just as cute and adorable as when our mothers dressed us up as Mickey or Minnie when we were little.

To make the Mickey costume, we combined these four tutorials:

Dinosaur

A dinosaur tail is a winner, and if you combine it with a crested crown and eyes, it’s the ultimate. These dinosaur accessories fit the body and head very well thanks to the Velcro they have.

And that’s it for a few Carnival costume ideas. We have more: if you take a look at our YouTube channel or our sewing academy, Lulu Ferris, you’ll find more ideas: bird wings, a Native American crown, a chef’s hat and apron, one-piece jumpsuits for babies… Don’t miss them!

Have a very happy time sewing! :)
