With warm weather and summer approaching, we’re here to remind you about the different video tutorials and patterns you can find in our sewing academy, Lulu Ferris, for sewing breezy dresses for both women and kids and getting your summer wardrobe started.
Breezy short dress with ruffles at the armholes and a fairly wide round neckline. You can also make it long and add pockets.
The best fabrics for making these dresses are ones with drape and movement, such as viscose, crepe, or satin…
You’ll find the pattern in sizes 36 through 46.
Very comfortable shirt dress with very short sleeves, a midi length, and a front button opening.
We made ours with mustard-colored linen fabric from Tejidos de Moda, but you can use any other fabric.
You’ll find the pattern in sizes 34 through 48.
Long dress with pockets, comfortable and beautiful.
This dress has a V-neckline, and the back is also V-shaped, but not as deep. The straps are made from the same fabric as the dress, but you can make them with ribbon or cord.
For this dress, it’s important to use a lightweight, drapey fabric such as crepe, viscose, or satin…
The pattern includes sizes S-M-L-XL.
Full-Skirt Dress for Girls and Women
Flowy dress with a wide, drapey cut designed to look good on everyone, whatever their body type, and be super comfortable.
The fabric we used is modal, a lightweight, stretchy fabric with drape.
The patterns include women’s sizes S-M-L-XL and girls’ sizes from 0/3 months to 12/13 years.
This dress is perfect because, besides being super easy to make, it looks great and is super comfortable.
It’s a summer dress with a shirred bodice and a strapless neckline.
As always, for dresses we recommend drapey fabrics, and in this case, lightweight ones.
We made ours with red solid knit for the shirred band and red-and-white stripes for the rest of the dress.

Here’s the Megan dress. If you’re pregnant, this one will be perfect for you, and it’s also great if you’re breastfeeding, since it has an opening with a couple of buttons for easy access. But if you’re not pregnant, it’s for you too.
In the photo, you can see it with long sleeves, but you also have the option of making them short and cutting the length wherever you prefer instead of having it reach your feet.
The pattern includes sizes 36 through 54.
This strappy dress is perfect for any occasion and also very easy to put on because it has no zippers, snaps, or anything else.
For the top, you need to use a knit fabric—in this case, a solid pink knit—and for the skirt, you can use woven or knit fabric. This floral one is a woven fabric from Art Gallery.
In the pattern, you’ll find sizes from 3/6 months through 5/6 years.
In this tutorial, you’ll see that you have lots of options, such as combining the top and bottom to make a super cute dress.
You can make a full romper, a shirt and skirt, or a cropped shirt….
The pattern includes sizes 2/3 years through 12/13 years.
Which one do you like best? :)
